What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is primarily a talk-based therapy and is intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being

Registered Psychotherapists work with individuals, children, teens, couples, and families in individual and group settings. 

Who seeks psychotherapy services?

Individuals usually seek psychotherapy when they have thoughts, feelings, moods and behaviours that are adversely affecting their day-to-day lives, relationships, and the ability to enjoy life. Some of the common  benefits from psychotherapy services include:

For individuals

What are the treatments approach/modality?

Our registered psychotherapists will be competent to use a part of one or more of the categories of prescribed therapies, including but not limited to:

  • Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies

  • Somatic therapies 

Our ASD program

Our psychotherapists specialize in providing mental health services for children and teens diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

At our clinic, we offer psychotherapy to support children and teens with ASD through:

  • One-to-one counselling and/or social skills groups

  • Learning to identify emotions, calm the body, and manage stress

  • Developing emotional and self-regulation skills

  • Improving social-emotional and interpersonal skills

This service is one of the Ontario Autism Program (OAP)’s core clinical offerings and can be accessed using OAP funding or through your insurance psychological benefits.
